If you are travelling by car
ramsons restaurant is in Ramsbottom's traditional market place - on the opposite side of the road to the Grant Arms hotel. The picture was taken on a second Sunday of the month - when we host a farmers market.
If you use SatNav our postcode is BL0 9HT, the street address is 18 Market Place, Ramsbottom. Some SatNav units try to take you into the yard at the rear of the restaurant. IGNORE IT'S PROTESTATIONS!
Coming from the south, we are a couple of miles from exit 1 off the northbound M66. As you leave the motorway turn right at the traffic lights and travel north on the A56 for 1 mile then turn left down the hill at the 2nd set of traffic lights. At the bottom of the hill you will come to a railway level crossing, 300 yards after this turn right at the traffic lights and you will see the hotel in the picture on your left hand side.
Coming from the north we are about a mile from the end of the A56 by-pass, just before it becomes the M66. Leave the dual carrigeway on the slip road to Rochdale and Bolton, then take the third exit from the roundabout. You will go down a hill, through the village of Stubbins and under a low railway bridge. Keep left here (there is a big paper mill on your right), and carry on south for about half a mile. When you come to Ramsbottom town centre we are the first building on the left.
There is plenty of free parking nearby with a fairly large municipal car park at the rear of the Grant Arms and roadside parking starting less than 100 yards from us on Stubbins Lane (the main road going north from the village centre)...
If you prefer to travel by bus
We are on several routes, but these are the most useful:
Bury circular suburban services 472 & 474 from the Metrolink Interchange run very regularly until almost midnight.
The Bolton to Burnley service 273 runs every half hour and stops virtually at our door.
At the weekend you can catch a steam train...
The East Lancashire Railway runs from Heywood, via Bury to Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall on Saturdays and Sundays.
A lovely day out, especially if you get off in Ramsbottom for a leisurely lunch at ramsons.
Whilst you are in Ramsbottom...
You will find a fascinating re-creation of Rammys history in the Ramsbottom Model Railway clubs brilliant layout. www.rmrc.webs.com
